Motion Facts and Information

  1. To avoid motion sickness, sea sickness or altitude sickness: Aboard a ship: stay toward the middle and look at the horizon. Avoid ship travel if possible. Stay out of small tight places where you can't see the horizon.

  2. Ginger for motion sickness can help prevent the unpleasant symptoms of travel sickness.

  3. Ginger is a natural preventative for motion sickness, sea sickness or altitude sickness. It soothes a queasy stomach and has no side effects. You can get it in pill form, tablets or powder, as ginger root in many herb and health food stores, or as pickled ginger slices at Japanese food marts and even at many Japanese restaurants. Most serve it pickled with sushi, hand rolls, and other of their dishes.

  4. For motion sickness or sea sickness: If you are beginning to feel a bit queasy, stand up and look out over the horizon. Despite what you might think, sitting or lying down is the worst thing you can do at this point. Don't do it. This is a critical moment. You will get much worse even faster and may reach a point of no return if you make the wrong choice. Soda crackers seem to help some people by calming their stomachs and reducing nausea.

  5. Snacks or crackers a little and often during the trip will also help to reduce motion sickness.

  6. Trip ease may be taken with any other medication. Like other homeopathic remedies, trip ease is most effective when taken separately from food and drink, but has been specially formulated so that it may if necessary be taken in association with food and/or drink, i.e. coffee.

  7. To avoid motion sickness, sea sickness or altitude sickness: Aboard a ship: stay toward the middle and look at the horizon. Avoid ship travel if possible. Stay out of small tight places where you can't see the horizon.

  8. Symptoms of motion sickness, seasickness or altitude sickness: Abnormal color of skin, especially the face. This loss of color is temporary and is caused by a reduced blood flow to the face and is similar to being in shock, being sick. Once the motion sickness ends the color returns to normal.

  9. As you may have observed some families suffer from motion sickness more than others, there is also a racial difference which was shown in a medical trial. The Asian-American children suffered the most motion sickness, 100% of them and it was so bad for some of them they asked to leave the trial early.

  10. For motion sickness or sea sickness: If any other divers are overcome by sea sickness, get away from them at once! Unfortunately, many of us can do fine until someone else loses it. Then we have a sympathetic reaction and succumb as well. It could be the sound, the smell, the sight, or a combination of them that triggers the same response in us. You don't have to be close to your buddy at this time. There is nothing you can do to help.
