  2. Motion Sickness is a syndrome that occurs in some people when they travel in a vehicle such as an automobile, airplane, or ship. Its symptoms include nausea, dizziness, vomiting, drowsiness, pallor, and sweating. Why some people experience motion sickness and others don't, is uncertain.

  5. For motion sickness or sea sickness: Get plenty of rest before diving. Weariness and exhaustion can make you more susceptible to other things that can bring on motion sickness. Do your gear preparation early the day before diving and take care of other business well before a proper bed time.

  6. Symptoms of motion sickness, seasickness or altitude sickness: Abnormal color of skin, especially the face. This loss of color is temporary and is caused by a reduced blood flow to the face and is similar to being in shock, being sick. Once the motion sickness ends the color returns to normal.

Therefore careful eating the 24 hours before the trip is wise and will help to reduce the chance of motion sickness. Therefore avoid a heavy and or fatty meal, one with lots of spices, chicken and fish or anything that is old or a little suspect, like takeaway foods late at night.

  9. To reduce the effect of motion sickness, sea sickness or altitude sickness avoids alcohol and caffeine. If you have respiratory problems, eliminate foods that produce inflammation and mucus, such as dairy products, fruit, and sugar. Ginger sliced and chewed may prevent the onset of motion sickness. Encapsulated ginger, crystallized ginger, or ginger snaps may also help. Ginger has been shown to be more effective than antihistamines if taken one hour before traveling. Sips of lemon water may help relieve nausea during an episode.

  10. Motion sickness causes reduced blood flow and this in turn reduces the body temperature making the sufferer feel cold and clammy.
