Motion Facts and Information

  1. For motion sickness or sea sickness: While in the water, be careful not to swallow sea water. It makes many people nauseous. Make sure your mouthpiece fits well and that you have your regulator comfortably and securely in your mouth so as to keep water out.

  2. Symptoms of motion sickness, seasickness or altitude sickness: Vomiting, this mechanism is usually for getting rid of bad food from the stomach, but in the case of motion sickness there is usually no bad food in the stomach, therefore after vomiting there is not the usual relief and the suffer still feels sick and miserable.

  3. To relieve motion sickness or sea sickness keep each other occupied and do not think about getting sick.

  4. Symptoms of motion sickness, seasickness or altitude sickness: Feeling Giddy and Faint

  5. The standard advice for seasickness is to get up on deck where visual input agrees with vestibular input. Likewise, studies have shown that a child is far less likely to experience car sickness when in an elevated child seat that provides a good outside view.

  6. Motion sickness is common and normal. Nearly anyone can be made motion sick by an appropriate stimulus, except for individuals with no vestibular system.

Techniques to reduce motion sickness, seasickness, and altitude sickness: Position yourself for the least movement, The lesser the movement while traveling the better, this means asking the driver to slow down while in either a car or bus, sitting near the middle of an airplane or boat. Try and watch the horizon when you are on a boat and get plenty of fresh air even if itís very cold. When in a car try and sit in the front seat looking straight ahead, if you are old enough, drive the car.

  8. If you begin to feel sea sick, or motion sick; take slow, deep breaths

  9. To relieve motion sickness or sea sickness, avoid alcoholic beverages at least 24 hours before travel.

  10. There are essentially three strategies to treatment of motion sickness: Behavioral (avoidance, mental activities), Medication (conventional, alternative), Stimulation (alternative)
