Motion Facts and Information

  1. For motion sickness or sea sickness: Drink plenty of water. Even partial dehydration lowers your body's resistance to the stressful factors caused by diving and the boat ride. Take lots of water with you and drink often.

  2. Signs and Symptoms of motion sickness, sea sickness or altitude sickness; dizziness, paleness, cold sweating, excess saliva production, nausea, vomiting, fatigue or headache.

  3. For motion sickness or sea sickness: Again, if possible, avoid the cabin and other enclosed spaces. Sometimes, a breezy spot in the sun may be preferable to a shady spot in a stuffy cabin.  The open air and ability to look out over the horizon are often more important than being in a shady spot, which can be stuffy and enclosed, limiting your view of the horizon and perhaps making you more prone to motion sickness.

  4. What Can I Do for Motion Sickness: Do not read while traveling if you are subject to motion sickness, and do not sit in a seat facing backward.

  5. Motion Sickness is a syndrome that occurs in some people when they travel in a vehicle such as an automobile, airplane, or ship. Its symptoms include nausea, dizziness, vomiting, drowsiness, pallor, and sweating. Why some people experience motion sickness and others don't, is uncertain.

  6. SEA Bands come with two fabric bands. A convenient reusable plastic pouch is included. One size fits all.

  7. For motion sickness or sea sickness: Once you are in the water, drop down below the surface (make sure your buddy knows that this is the plan). The top ten or fifteen feet or so (3 to 4.5 meters), more in rough seas can still have a surge that will have an effect on you. Dropping below that can have a calming effect on your senses (and your stomach).

  8. What causes Motion Sickness, sea sickness or altitude sickness: Racial and Genetic Differences

  9. The movement of a boat on a fluid sea creates stress in the portions of the brain responsible for balance. Perhaps that stress causes the brain to start malfunctioning as the land based environment it understands is suddenly not behaving, as it should.
