Motion Facts and Information

  1. As you may have observed some families suffer from motion sickness more than others, there is also a racial difference which was shown in a medical trial. The Asian-American children suffered the most motion sickness, 100% of them and it was so bad for some of them they asked to leave the trial early.

  2. To avoid motion sickness, sea sickness or altitude sickness: On the airplane: ask for a window seat. The front of the plane may be preferable, as it is usually less noisy.

  3. If you feel nauseous and about to succumb, please avoid the entry and exit areas of the boat. Hang your head over the gunwales and avoid "chumming" in areas other divers must use.

  4. If you begin to feel sea sick, or motion sick; take slow, deep breaths

  5. To help motion sickness always ride where your eyes will see the same motion that your body and inner ears feel, e.g. sit in the front seat of the car and look at the distant scenery; go up on the deck of the ship and watch the horizon; sit by the window of the airplane and look outside. In an airplane choose a seat over the wings where the motion is the least.

  6. Another treatment for sea sickness or motion sickness is an acupressure wrist band. It applies pressure to a particular point on your wrist, which can prevent the feeling of nausea.

  7. In a large study done in India, the prevalence of motion sickness was about 28%, and females were more susceptible (27%) were more susceptible than males (16.8%. Individuals with more active occupations are less susceptible in medical transport personnel, 46% of personnel reported nausea.

  9. What causes Motion Sickness, sea sickness or altitude sickness: Age, Children suffer more from motion sickness than adults and usually adults over 50 rarely suffer from motion sickness
